WHAT'S NEXT FOR CANNABIS IN ARLINGTON?
In the wake of Governor Youngkin's veto of recreational cannabis legislation that was passed by the state legislature, thanks for joining us to discuss what's next for cannabis in Arlington and beyond, including the health, policy and business perspectives of cannabis and where we go from here.

Alexandria may be the primary location for the proposed Monumental Arena, but as the "next door neighbor," what would be the benefits or disadvantages for Arlington of what is viewed by many as a great economic driver for Northern Virginia?
Despite the arena proposal being left out of this year's state budget, the plan remains a future possibility.

According to the American Medical Association, U.S. maternal deaths are on a worrisome trajectory, and the rise in maternal deaths of Black mothers is a significant factor in this escalating crisis.
Our February program explored the root causes and consequences of women's health disparities in Arlington, featuring perspectives from Arlington County and the medical community, as well as excellent audience questions and discussion.

What's the latest and what does the future hold for Arlington's Expanded Housing Options (EHO) in the coming year? A large crowd of community members joined us both virtually and in person for an open and civil discussion of this important issue on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Homelessness, mental illness, and incarceration are deeply intertwined issues. In fact, individuals without stable housing are at greater risk for incarceration than the general population, mental health issues are prevalent among incarcerated populations, and many in our community face structural barriers to basic needs which result in disproportionate incarcerations.
The Arlington Committee of 100 discusses how the County is investing in coordinated systemic responses to assist people experiencing mental health or housing crises and the path forward. This program is a small chapter of the larger book on homelessness and mental health.
The Committee of 100 is looking at ways to expand this important discussion and amplify other issues in the homeless space. We encourage you to join us in that journey or allow us to support your efforts to lead future conversations for the community.

We heard from experts on our community's key vulnerabilities: what the future holds from state and local climate projections; what our elected leaders are doing both locally and nationally; and what each of us can do to reduce the risks of climate threats to the people and places we love.
